This 300-bed super-speciality tertiary-care facility has been conceived with special focus on Neuro-Trauma, Neurology and Neuro-Surgery. The unit is being set up as an extension of the Accident & Trauma Department of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka (NHSL). The project is funded through a US $ 4.89 million loan provided to the Sri Lankan Government by the Saudi Fund for Development.

This 175,000.00 sqft building accommodates 6 (six) ultra-modern Operation Theaters (3 for Neuro-Trauma & 3 for Neuro-Surgery), 33 (thirty-three) Neuro-Surgery ICU beds, 33 (thirty-three) Neuro-Trauma ICU beds, 43 (forty three) HDU beds, 37 (thirty-seven) Spinal Ward beds, 53 (fifty-three) Head Injury beds and 46 (forty-six) Neuro-Surgery beds. A roof-top helipad is provided to enable air-ambulance service.

AHEL’s design team was appointed as hospital design consultants through a competitive international selection process. The project is slated for completion by the end of 2008.
